Mariko graduated from Osaka University with a Bachelor of Literature degree and began her career. However, she could not give up her passion for music and moved to the U.S. when she won a scholarship to Berklee College of Music. As one of the top students, she was awarded Summa Cum Laude and graduated with a major in Professional Music. Since returning to Japan, she has been teaching younger students in addition to her own performing activities.
